County Executive Innamorato Announces First Slate of Board Appointees

County Executive Sara Innamorato announced her first slate of board appointments since taking office.

January 19, 2024 - Pittsburgh - Today, County Executive Sara Innamorato announced her first slate of board appointments since taking office. She nominated six people to serve on three different boards, including the Allegheny County Housing Authority, Jail Oversight Board, and Redevelopment Authority of Allegheny County. These names were submitted to County Council for approval at the Tuesday, January 23, 2024 Council meeting.

County Executive Innamorato said: “I’m pleased to put forward this slate of individuals that bring fresh perspectives to the vital work of our county. I pledged a new spirit of intergovernmental cooperation and collaboration in my County government, and the appointments of Representative Steele and Kyle Chintalapalli are an important step forward to make good on that promise. I also committed to bringing new community voices to the Jail Oversight Board, including someone who was previously incarcerated, and the appointment of MAN-E to the JOB will bring that important perspective. Thank you to all of these dedicated community members for lending their time and expertise to our County boards.”

Allegheny County Housing Authority

Allegheny County Housing Authority exists to effectuate the state and national housing laws designed to alleviate housing conditions in low-income groups. The purpose is to increase the number of decent, safe and proper sanitary dwellings available to low-income families. With the cooperation of the local municipalities, this Authority builds, modernizes and operates units for the elderly and low-income citizens. For the Allegheny County Housing Authority, County Executive Innamorato nominated State Representative Mandy Steele and re-nominated Mark Foerster, who has previously served as chairman of the Housing Authority Board.

Jail Oversight Board

The Jail Oversight Board ensures discipline and safekeeping of prisoners and also proper management of the County Jail and includes three citizen appointees who are not employees of the County. For the three citizen appointee positions, County Executive Innamorato nominatesBarbara Griffin, a nationally recognized attorney who serves as the Director of the Pro Bono Center of the Allegheny County Bar Foundation, and previously served as Assistant Attorney General for the State of Texas; Muhammad Ali Nasir, also known as MAN-E, who is an activist and Advocacy and Policy Civic Engagement Coordinator at 1Hood Media; andRob Perkins, an attorney who previously served in the Allegheny County Public Defender’s Office, and is a founding member and Allegheny Lawyers Initiative for Justice.

Redevelopment Authority of Allegheny County

The Redevelopment Authority of Allegheny County (RAAC) assists with generation, stimulation, and management of economic and community growth. RAAC acquires and prepares local real estate for economic development, manages financing from public sources, and facilitates the reuse of vacant, tax-delinquent, or blighted properties. For the RAAC, County Executive Innamorato nominated Kyle Chintalapalli. Mr. Chintalapalli serves as the Chief Economic Development Officer of the City of Pittsburgh Office of Management and Budget and serves as the Chair of the Urban Redevelopment Authority of Pittsburgh.
